I’ve been remiss in keeping your blog up to date. And there’s so much going on that I don’t want to forget; Bridey is crawling all over kingdom come, and loves to raise up on her hands and tippy toes as far as she can stretch. Marlowe, you’ve developed your little “Incredible Hulk” imitation, which is simply adorable (and sometimes loud!). You went to the zoo for the first time last weekend, you’re eating all kinds of foods these days and love your puffs. We’ve had to lower your crib mattresses, and are watching for you to start pulling up any day now.
We took your six-month picture almost a month ago.
We’re busy planning our new home which we’re now in the process of building. It’s going to have plenty of bedrooms, a playroom for the two of you, and a bigger back yard for you to play in. It’s right across the street from where you will go to elementary school and middle school, and is an absolute dream come true for all of us.
But there’s a reason I haven’t been writing. And I realized today that I can either keep avoiding it, or I’m going to continue to miss months of your lives here, and I don’t want that to happen.
You girls are lucky to have the three most amazing grandparents any child could ask for. Nana, Gramcracker and Papa have been with us since you first made your arrival. They’ve fed you bottles, changed your diapers, held you while you slept, and held you while you cried. They’ve spoiled you, sung to you, read to you, loved you.
They come whenever they’re asked, they bring food and relief, and provide mommy and daddy with much-needed breaks to get things done and recharge just a little bit.
And now, now my heart is breaking. Because we have some very sad news about your Papa. He hasn’t been feeling well since Christmas time, and has been undergoing a lot of testing to find out why. Well, we know now that he has cancer, and we’re not sure how much time he has left with us. So we’re going to spend as much time with him as we can, we’re going to make lots of new memories, and we’re going to take lots and lots of pictures. And we’re going to spend the rest of your lives telling you how much he loves you.
